Outgoing House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) spent nearly $6 million on his primary loss, according to his newly filed Federal Election Commission report.
{mosads}Cantor lost in a shocking primary upset to professor Dave Brat, who raised and spent about $200,000 for the race. Brat has subsequently brought in double that amount.
Cantor still has close to $1.5 million in the bank. His campaign was criticized for, among other things, spending heavily on attack ads against Brat that boosted his name recognition.
