Gwen Graham looks to dad in new ads

Florida Democratic House candidate Gwen Graham features her father, Bob Graham, a popular former governor and senator, in her newest ads.

{mosads}The two tout the benefits of “workdays,” a tradition started by the elder Graham during his time as governor when he would spend a day working with an average Floridian. His daughter has taken on the workdays as part of her own campaign for Florida’s 2nd District, currently represented by Republican Steve Southerland.

“A Graham workday is a full day of hard work with Floridians. I worked in all kinds of jobs that put me in direct contact with real people who were affected by what you do,” Bob Graham says in one of the ads.

Gwen adds: “I absolutely know the value of workdays. There’s such a connection that I feel with the people that I’ve worked with.”

A narrator then declares, “Problem-solving and cooperation. Doing things the North Florida Way.”

The “North Florida Way” has been a catchphrase central to Graham’s campaign, meant to emphasize Graham’s local ties and her commitment to working across the aisle to get things done in Washington.

One of her assets in the race is the Graham name — Bob Graham oversaw strong economic development in the state during his two terms as governor, and then was elected to the Senate three times.

Southerland is one of the GOP’s most vulnerable incumbents this election cycle.

Graham and her father will launch an eight-day tour of 14 counties throughout the district with a workday this Wednesday at a local food bank.
