Florida Dem freshman keeps seat
Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-Fla.) beat back a GOP challenger in a close House race.
The Associated Press called the race in Florida’s 18th District in favor of the freshman lawmaker, who had faced a challenge from former state lawmaker Carl Domino. Republicans had eyed the seat as a potential pickup if the GOP had a strong showing nationwide.
Murphy came to Congress in 2012 after defeating the outspoken Allen West for the seat.
