LaHood wins special election to replace Schock

Republican Darin LaHood, son of former Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, is heading to Congress.

{mosads}He won a special election Thursday to replace former Rep. Aaron Schock (R-Ill.), the Chicago Tribune reported.

There are several procedural steps involved before LaHood can be sworn in to the seat, making it unclear when he can officially move into the Capitol.

Schock resigned earlier this year after a series of scandals involving improper spending of taxpayer money for travel, office redecoration and concert tickets.
