Liz Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, will announce a bid for Wyoming’s only House seat, Morning Consult is reporting

The report says she “is likely to launch her bid for Congress within days.”

{mosads}Cheney ran for Senate in 2014 as a primary challenger to Sen. Mike Enzi. But she withdrew from the race before the primary, citing “serious health issues” in her family.

Rep. Cynthia Lummis (R) currently holds the seat, but she will retire after 2016.

Cheney’s name recognition and previous experience in the State Department is likely to make her the instant favorite in a race that includes a handful of candidates already.

State Sen. Leland Christensen (R) and State Rep. Tim Stubson (R) are among the candidates seeking the seat. Lummis’s daughter is helping run Christensen’s reelection, according to local media reports, but the sitting congresswoman has not yet weighed in.

Wyoming is seen as a safe Republican seat. The state hasn’t elected a Democrat to either the House or Senate since the 1970s.
