Vice President Biden will headline a fundraiser for Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) in June, according to a Tampa Bay Times report.

{mosads}Wasserman Schultz, chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, is up for reelection this year and is facing a primary challenger in Tim Canova, a law professor.

Canova has already raised nearly $1 million for his campaign, the Times reports, while Wasserman Schultz had raised $1.8 million through March.

This is Wasserman Schultz’s first primary challenge since her election in 2004. President Obama endorsed her in March.

The DNC chairwoman has faced criticism about the party’s decisions in the presidential race, with supporters of Bernie Sanders accusing the party of picking Hillary Clinton as its favorite.

Canova has endorsed Sanders and is trying to run with a similar populist streak as the Vermont senator. Canova also has the backing of the National Nurses United super-PAC, the group that has already spent more than $1 million to help Sanders.

The district leans strongly blue, so the primary will likely be the only competitive obstacle for Wasserman Schultz to keep her seat.
