House Dems’ campaign arm outraises GOP by $3 million

The House Democrats’ campaign arm outpaced its GOP counterpart in April, raising $3 million more that its rival, according to fundraising reports.

{mosads}The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) raised nearly $8.6 million last month, compared with the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) which raised nearly $5.4 million in the same time.

But the NRCC still has a cash advantage. The group has about $53 million in cash on hand, while the DCCC has about $48 million in the bank.

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) sent a fundraising email on Monday asking supporters to chip in to prevent House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) from gaining the gavel in November and to keep Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton from winning the White House.

“Now is the time to unite to stop Pelosi and Hillary from obtaining their one goal: a complete liberal takeover of our government,” Ryan wrote in an NRCC email.

Democrats have an uphill battle to regain the majority in the House, needing to net 30 seats this cycle. But House Democrats feel emboldened by the thought of having presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump at the top of the ticket. This has motivated them to recruit candidates in districts that normally wouldn’t be a target in other election years.
