NRCC announces regional vice-chairs, DCCC launches effort to recruit women
{mosads}Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) will serve as regional vice-chair for the NRCC, and will oversee the committee’s regional efforts.
The NRCC’s regional chairs include Rep. Martha Roby (Ala.) in the South, Rep. Steve Daines (Mont.) in the central Western region, Rep. Adam Kinzinger (Ill.) in the Midwest, Rep. Devin Nunes (Calif.) in the West, and Rep. Tom Reed (N.Y.) in the Northeast.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee launched a “Women LEAD” effort on Tuesday as well, to support the DCCC’s efforts to elect more female Democratic candidates to Congress.
Democrats already have a substantial lead on female representation in the House, 58 of the 77 female House members are Democrats.
Democratic Reps. Chellie Pingree (Maine) and Lois Frankel (Fla.) will lead the effort.
“Their commitment to the cause of women’s rights, and their natural leadership will expand opportunity for all women. The facts are clear: When women vote, Democrats win. Bringing even more Democratic women into the political process is a winning formula for our party,” said DCCC Chairman Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) in a statement.
