NRCC hits 10 vulnerable Dems with radio ads on shutdown

{mosads}The National Republican Congressional Committee’s effort is Republicans’ latest attempt to place the blame of the shutdown squarely on the shoulders of Democrats.

The new ads follow robocalls launched by the NRCC’s Democratic counterpart against more than 60 Republicans urging their constituents to tell them to end the shutdown.

“How out-of-touch is Ann Kirkpatrick with Arizona families? So out-of-touch that she voted to shut down the government in order to protect Congress’ taxpayer funded healthcare,” the narrator says in an ad hitting Kirkpatrick.

The ads go on to charge that the members “receive special subsidies to pay for their healthcare.”

“Washington is broken and its clear Kirkpatrick is part of the problem,” the narrator adds.

The NRCC is hitting California Rep. Scott Peters, Florida Reps. Patrick Murphy and Joe Garcia, Illinois Rep. Bill Enyart, Minnesota Reps. Tim Walz and Rick Nolan, New Hampshire Reps. Carol Shea-Porter and Ann McLane Kuster, and West Virginia Rep. Nick Rahall, as well as Kirkpatrick.

Democrats believe the shutdown could be a political winner for them in 2014 if Republicans get the blame, much as it was for Democrats during the 1995-1996 shutdown. Polling conducted before Monday indicated that Republicans would receive most of the blame for a shutdown.

But Republicans believe the fallout of ObamaCare implementation would be equally, if not more, detrimental to Democrats.
