Pro-Obama group raises $7.7M
{mosads}That’s slightly less than the $8.2 million the group raised during the second quarter of the year.
An OFA official emphasized the number of small donors that have contributed to the group as evidence it’s “truly a grassroots funded operation.”
Ninety-eight percent of OFA’s contributors since its inception were small-dollar donors, the official said, and the average contribution to the group is under $59. OFA has received donations from over 355,000 individuals.
Still, eight donors gave $50,000 or more in the third quarter, helping to boost the group’s overall haul.
Since its launch, OFA has worked through grassroots organizing and television and digital ads to engage the public in support of Obama’s policy goals. The group was notably active in the gun-control and immigration fights earlier this year and, more recently, on the shutdown.
