GOP taking Biden presidential possibilities seriously

{mosads}The Republican National Committee launched a new Web video Friday characterizing his visit to his hometown of Scranton, Pa., alongside President Obama to discuss college affordability as the first top in the “Biden 2016 kickoff tour.”

It opens with a clip of Obama’s infamous 2008 campaign gaffe in which, with a slip of the tongue, he introduced Biden as “the next president,” and declares with on-screen text: “This time it’s for real.”

The video notes his event this Friday alongside Obama, as well as his plans to head to Iowa next month to headline Sen. Tom Harkin’s (D) annual steak fry — a traditional stop for potential Democratic presidential contenders — as stops on a “2016 kickoff tour.”

It closes by asking: “Can we afford four more years of the Obama/Biden economy?”

Biden has made no indication he plans to run, but he hasn’t ruled it out, either.

Speaking to GQ magazine, he said that while he “can die a happy man never having been president of the United States of America … it doesn’t mean I won’t run.”

Clinton, however, is considered the presumptive nominee of the party, and if she runs she’ll likely clear the field or at the very least make it difficult for another Democratic contender to gain traction.
