Americans United head to lead Dem super PAC

Brad Woodhouse, president of the progressive group Americans United for Change, has been named the new president of Democratic super PAC American Bridge.

Woodhouse will replace current American Bridge President Rodell Mollineau starting on Feb. 3, and will stay on as president of AUFC.

{mosads}Woodhouse previously served as a senior adviser and communications director for the Democratic National Committee, as well as an Obama strategist and surrogate during both the president’s campaigns.

His new role aligns two prominent groups in Democratic politics. AUFC has taken a central role in promoting President Obama’s agenda, including defending the healthcare reform law, and American Bridge is the party’s premier opposition research and rapid response group.

Last year, American Bridge founder David Brock, an ally of the Clintons, launched a 2016-focused arm of the organization called Correct the Record.

Brock’s hiring of Woodhouse further integrates key players from Obama’s sphere into the political apparatus Democrats are building to support former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s expected run for president.

Other Obama denizens have also joined pro-Clinton efforts in recent weeks,, like former Obama campaign manager Jim Messina, who just signed on as co-chairman of a major super PAC that plans to launch television ads to support a potential Clinton presidency.
