Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) has “a lot of problems with you people (mostly in DC), and today you’re going to hear about it!” he announced on Twitter as he kicked off his annual Festivus Twitter rant.
{mosads}Paul, a likely presidential contender and big fan of “Seinfeld,” reprised his annual “airing of grievances” by tweaking politicians of both parties.
“First, politics in general: As a Doctor, I was trained first to do no harm. Wouldn’t it be nice if politicians started from that premise?” he began in the Twitter rant before paraphrasing Groucho Marx.
“Politics is the art of looking 4 trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly&applying wrong remedies,” he followed up.
Paul goes on to complain that Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) doesn’t retweet him enough before taking aim at his home-state ally, incoming Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), and two of his likely presidential primary foes.
“No matter how many times I ask @Team_Mitch, he won’t let me borrow this awesome sweater vest,” Paul said, tweeting a photo of McConnell in the sleeveless garb. “We all know having a fashion forward campaign is important to success, as @RickSantorum showed us in 2012.”
Paul then tweeted a photo of his trademark turtleneck emblazoned with “Rand Paul 2016,” predicting it will “be a popular item this year.”
In another tweet, Paul joked about his recent Cuba-related dustups with Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).
“Tempting to air a grievance @marcorubio again, but we’ve done that enough for this week. Instead I will say an early Merry Christmas.”
Paul’s annual Festivus rant, inspired by the anti-holiday celebrated by George Costanza and his family on “Seinfeld,” has become something of a Twitter tradition in recent years.
The senator returned an hour later to joke about his hair before lamenting a number of government programs and regulations he views as ludicrous.
“The hair is real & mine. Don’t know why ur fascinated with it or compare it to alien life forms,” Paul tweeted before tweeting a photo from Star Trek of Tribbles, furry little toupee-looking aliens.
“I mean it looks nothing like these things,” he said. “I am also kinda mad that you seem to think @LyleLovett has better hair than me.”
