Bush set to release emails from time as governor

Jeb Bush will release troves of emails from his time as governor and the first chapter of an e-book outlining his policy positions on Tuesday.

The Tampa Bay Times reported on Monday that Bush told supporters in a conference call that the emails and book excerpts will be available on a website that will launch this week.

In December, Bush said he would release 250,000 emails from his tenure in Tallahassee and that he would release an e-book laying out his policy positions.

On the Monday conference call, Bush said the dual releases would help bring to light his conservative record from his time in the governor’s mansion.

“An interesting feature of all this is how little people know about what we accomplished together during my eight years as governor,” Bush said, according to the Tampa Bay Times. “Many of you played such a critical role in helping transform the state in many ways. I’m really proud of the conservative record we had in cutting taxes. Even — for the nerdy guys and gals on the phone — achieving a triple-A bond rating. It still warms my heart. Creating 1.4 million net new jobs by building a better business climate. Reforming the things that were broken, particularly our schools. All of that story we can begin to tell people and I’m really excited about it.”

The Tampa Bay Times also reported that on Monday’s conference call, Bush said “my life is totally focused” on a potential bid for the White House.
