Report: Trump fires adviser over racist Facebook posts

Donald Trump’s presidential campaign has fired an adviser for making racially insensitive comments on Facebook, The New York Times is reporting.

Trump’s campaign confirmed that Sam Nunberg was fired on Sunday, according to the newspaper.

“Effective immediately, low level part-time consultant, Sam Nunberg is no longer associated with the Donald J. Trump for President campaign,” campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said in a statement.

Reports emerged last week that Nunberg had written offensive social media posts in 2007 and 2008.

One unearthed post reportedly included a racial slur against Rev. Al Sharpton’s daughter while another called President Obama a “Socialist Marxist Islamo Fascist Nazi Appeaser.”

He referred to Obama as a “Kenyan” and a “Muslim” in other online remarks, according to reports.

The Trump campaign began probing Nunberg’s social media history as soon as the alleged comments were discovered on July 31.

“They were offensive and they do not reflect Mr. Trump’s position and we take them very seriously,” Lewandowski said that evening.

“If it is determined that Mr. Nunberg made these statements, then he will no longer be part of the campaign,” he added.

Nunberg denied his role in drafting the incendiary comments in his own statement issued on July 31.

“I am not adept at social media,” he said.

“I would also point out that all of these things were done before Mr. Trump’s campaign, if I even did them — which I deny,” Nunberg added.

The Times said on Sunday that Nunberg, a lawyer, has repeatedly worked for Trump in various roles before joining his 2016 campaign this year.

Concerns over Trump’s views on race relations have dogged his presidential campaign since its launch in June.

The outspoken billionaire began his Oval Office bid with remarks some found derogatory about illegal immigrants on June 16.

“They’re sending people who have a lot of problems,” Trump said at New York City’s Trump Tower.

“They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists,” he added. “And some, I assume, are good people.”
