Huckabee: Not my job to go after Trump

ABC US News | World News

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said Sunday that it was not his job to try to sway voters away from fellow 2016 GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump.

{mosads}“My job is to connect to the voters, not to disconnect them from Donald Trump,” Huckabee told host George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s “This Week.” “He’s going to give his message, I’m going to give mine. And in time, we’ll see which one really speaks to the heart, the soul and to the sense of option and opportunity of the American people.”

The former governor seemed to take a slight jab at the billionaire business mogul in the first GOP primary debate Thursday night.

“It seems like this election has been a whole lot about a person who is very high in the polls but doesn’t have a clue about how to govern, a person who has been filled with scandals and who could not lead,” Huckabee said at the debate. “And, of course, I’m talking about Hillary Clinton.”
