Former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-Ark.) said on Sunday that feuding with Donald Trump is self-defeating, given the enthusiasm for the billionaire’s GOP presidential campaign.

{mosads}“He’s a force to be reckoned with,” Huckabee, a 2016 GOP presidential candidate, told host Shannon Bream on “Fox News Sunday.”

“He’s getting 10 times the coverage of any other candidate,” he added. “The dumbest thing people can do is give him more attention.”

Huckabee also argued that focusing on his campaign message will help him outlast Trump.

“You don’t worry about Donald Trump,” said Huckabee. “We need to focus on swimming in our own lane.”

Huckabee charged that concerns like President Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran are of greater long-term importance to Americans than Trump’s bombastic rhetoric.

“The way this deal is structured, it is going to be much more difficult as the Iranians are going to be able to build fortresses underground to make even our most capable weapons incapable of bunker-busting,” he said of potential military action if the Iran pact fails. “They’ll be so sophisticated no American aircraft can get to them.”

Huckabee, who traveled to Israel last week, additionally slammed reports earlier this month that Iran may have a hand in inspecting its own atomic energy facilities as part of the historic agreement.

“It’s like letting a 10th grader grade his own algebra exam or Hillary Clinton use her own email server,” he quipped. “Both are nonsense.

“You don’t let the teenager run the house, you don’t let the teenager tell you when he is going to come or go,” Huckabee added.
