Hewitt: Trump is ‘best interview in America’

Conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt on Sunday called Donald Trump “the best interview in America,” just days after Trump ripped Hewitt on cable TV as a “third-rate radio announcer.”

{mosads}Trump’s diss came after the two men tangled on Hewitt’s radio show last week.

Trump and his supporters accused Hewitt of deliberately trying to trip up Trump when he quizzed him about the Quds Force, a military group in Iran, and Trump began talking about the Kurds.

“If I can use a baseball analogy, when you interview Donald Trump, it’s like facing Bill Lee throwing an eephus or Gaylord Perry,” Hewitt said during a panel on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

“He is unique, he is difficult, he is the best radio interview in America right now. I’d start every show with him.

“I don’t like gotcha questions,” Hewitt said. But he added that Quds Forces General Qasem Soleimani “matters and journalists have to be open to criticism, and I am.”

Hewitt will pose questions to GOP candidates at the CNN debate later this month, alongside moderator Jake Tapper.
