Report: Bush doesn’t own JebCanFixIt.com
Former Gov. Jeb Bush (R-Fla.) does not possess the domain name for his GOP presidential campaign’s latest slogan, a new report says.
Bush did not secure JebCanFixIt.com before introducing the phrase during a speech Monday morning in Tampa, according to Politico.
{mosads}The domain instead belongs to a Texan who ran for Austin’s city council last year, it reported Tuesday.
“When I first heard it leaked last week, the first thing I did was see if he had bought the domain name, since Jeb has a history of not buying domain names,” said Jimmy Flannigan, the owner of JebCanFixIt.com.
“I was surprised, but not shocked,” he said of the former Florida governor’s oversight.
“I’m not a fan of Jeb (or anyone else in the Republican field) but I almost feel bad for him since he’s having such a hard time with his campaign,” Flannigan added.
“It can’t be easy to be constantly overshadowed by your dad and brother,” he concluded, referencing former Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, respectively.
JebCanFixIt.com currently directs visitors to Flannigan’s campaign video for his unsuccessful Austin city council bid in 2014.
It also boasts his “Flannigan Can Fix It!” slogan and mocks Bush for failing to nab the domain first.
“Can Jeb Bush really fix anything as president if he can’t beat my epic campaign video?” he asked.
“With Jeb launching is ‘Jeb Can Fix It’ tour because he thinks he can ‘fix’ the problems facing America, I challenge him to at least do a ‘fix it’ video better than I did for my city council race,” Flannigan added.
Bush rebooted his struggling Oval Office bid on Monday by refocusing on his accomplishments as Florida’s governor from 1999 to 2007.
“Our story is about action,” he told listeners in Tampa. “Doing, not just talking. Listening, not just lecturing.”
Bush is now traveling across Florida, New Hampshire and South Carolina on a four-day tour promoting his reinvented message.
He has struggled for voter support amid concerns he is too deeply embedded in the Republican political establishment.
JebCanFixIt.org, another domain bearing his new slogan, additionally directs to a page that attacks the former Florida governor. It criticizes his stances on gun violence, women’s healthcare and racial inequality nationwide.
