Rep. Tony Cárdenas (D-Calif.) on Friday mocked Donald Trump’s bombast, touting what he called “the best bill ever written.”

“This law is going to be so good and so smart that it will completely make America great again,” Cárdenas said of H.R. 3938 in a statement. “America is going to be the best.

{mosads}“All the pieces of legislation that have been introduced this year have been losers. Anyone can negotiate a multi-year transportation funding program, but in order to do what I’ve done, you have to make deals,” he continued.

“That is the reason I was elected, because I know how to make deals and I’ve got the best people, and they also know how to make the best deals,” the California lawmaker added. “That’s how we got this done.”

Cárdenas’ proposed legislation: to rename the post office in Van Nuys, Calif., after actress Marilyn Monroe.

According to the statement, Monroe attended Van Nuys High School during the 1940s before becoming a star with films like “Monkey Business” and “The Seven Year Itch.”

“Marilyn Monroe was the best,” Cárdenas said in his statement. “Not only is the bill being supported by the greatest, classiest Congressional delegation ever assembled, but the Van Nuys Neighborhood Council unanimously approved it, because they know it will be a super law.”

Cárdenas’ release references Trump’s “Make America Great Again” campaign slogan and imitates his use of superlatives like “huge.”

Trump’s critics have argued that the outspoken billionaire exaggerates his talents without detailing specific policy proposals.

The New York business mogul is scheduled to host “Saturday Night Live” this weekend.

His gig on the long-running NBC series has inspired outrage among some members of the Hispanic community who dislike his sharp criticism of illegal immigrants.
