Cruz is first GOP candidate to tweet about Colo. shooting
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Saturday became the first Republican presidential candidate to comment on Twitter about the Friday shooting that left three dead at a Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs, Colo.
“Praying for loved ones of those killed, those injured & first responders who bravely got the situation under control in Colorado Springs,” Cruz tweeted Saturday.

As of Saturday afternoon, only one other GOP candidate had addressed the shooting on their official Twitter account.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich joined Cruz on Saturday afternoon, tweeting his condolences:

A gunman, identified as Robert Lewis Dear, had a standoff with police for several hours after opening fire at a Planned Parenthood in Colorado on Friday.
Dear is being held without bond and has a court appearance Monday, according to ABC News.
Police officer Garrett Swasey, 44, was among the three killed. Nine others were wounded, including five officers.
