Rubio is still insured under Obamacare: report

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) is one of the Affordable Care Act’s staunchest opponents. He’s also one of its highest-profile beneficiaries.

Rubio enrolled his family in health insurance through the Washington, D.C., exchange in 2013 and still gets his coverage through Obamacare, according to NBC News. The campaign confirmed the Rubio family’s enrollment to NBC News.

{mosads}The Tampa Bay Times first reported in 2013 Rubio’s enrollment in Obamacare and receipt of a controversial $10,000 subsidy offered to members of Congress and their staffs.

The subsidy was reviled as a special handout for lawmakers, but only replaced an employer contribution offered in pre-Obamacare of congressional insurance.

Rubio boasts of being one of the few ObamaCare critics to actually damage the law. His measure to remove federal subsidies for insurers that lose money by participating in the ObamaCare exchanges passed as part of a 2014 budget deal.

More than a dozen health insurers representing 800,000 people have dropped out of the exchanges, worried that the administration can’t afford to ease their losses.
