Radio host Glenn Beck said Tuesday that Donald Trump made “a critical error” attacking Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) last weekend.
“Donald Trump stepped over the line for even his supporters,” he said on his radio broadcast.
{mosads}“I don’t mean his rabid supporters, but the reasonable ones,” Beck said. “People generally like and trust [Cruz].
Beck argued that Tuesday night’s debate gives Cruz a chance to kil Trump with kindness after the billionaire called him a “maniac” two days before.
Beck additionally charged that a strong debate performance could help Cruz guarantee victory in the early voting state of Iowa.
“If he has a knockout punch, he could seal the deal,” he said. “It would be nice.”
Cruz has been rising in polls, paricularly in Iowa, where he now edges Trump by 1 percentage point, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average of samplings.
Trump, who leads Cruz by nearly 17 points nationwide, promised earlier this month the Texas lawmaker “will fall like all others.”
