One day after saying Hillary Clinton got “schlonged” in the 2008 presidential election, Donald Trump took to Twitter to defend the term as not vulgar.
Trump, the Republican presidential front-runner, wrote Tuesday night that the word means “beaten badly.”
He cited a National Public Radio journalist using the term in 2011, to describe Walter Mondale’s 1984 presidential campaign getting soundly defeated.
{mosads}Clinton’s circles leapt to attack Trump for the comment Tuesday, condemning the “degrading language.”
Clinton insiders were calling the incident a new low for Trump.
“We are watching the Donald melt down,” predicted Ellen Tauscher, the former congresswoman who served as undersecretary for Arms Control and International Security Affairs under Clinton.
