Clinton ally: Trump’s ‘schlonged’ remark implies Obama’s ‘a black rapist’

A prominent ally of Hillary Clinton said Donald Trump is invoking the image of “a black rapist” by saying President Obama “schlonged” her in the 2008 Democratic presidential primary.

“What we’re going to see — and what we got a taste of last night — was the misogynistic attacks on Hillary Clinton,” said David Brock, the founder of Correct the Record, a pro-Clinton super-PAC.

“The idea of a black rapist, basically, using the schlong to defeat Hillary. I think that’s what that’s really about.”

Brock said Trump’s lead in polls of the 2016 Republican race stems from “hate” in the conservative base.

“It’s really deeply troubling that the base of the party likes what they see in Trump,” he said.

“It’s hurting Republicans,” Brock continued. “I think we’re seeing an entirely different Republican Party in this cycle.

“This is not really an ideological movement — his followers are not especially right-wing. They’re angry and they’re filled with hate.”

Trump stirred controversy late Monday by saying then-Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) “schlonged” Clinton during their primary contest seven years ago. The outspoken billionaire has since defended his remark by arguing it is a non-vulgar term that means “to get beaten badly.”

Clinton’s campaign responded Tuesday by calling on supporters to publicly condemn Trump’s “degrading language.”

“The Republican establishment has spent lot of money polling about how to attack Hillary Clinton without attacking her as a woman,” Brock said. “That was all undone last night.”
