Bernie Sanders’s presidential campaign is exhuming the Twitter archives of a top Hillary Clinton aide in a new attack against the Democratic front-runner.
“If you ever want to work for a campaign that shares your values on health care, there’s always room at Bernie 2016,” Sanders (I-Vt.) tweeted, linking to a 2013 tweet from John Podesta.
Podesta tweeted in November 2013: “Just applied online for Medicare. Took 5 minutes. Single payer anyone?”
Sanders has said he supports a single-payer, Medicare-for-all bill.
The senator has introduced single-payer bills in previous sessions of Congress, and has argued that his proposal would be cost effective.
In a fundraising pitch, he has criticized Clinton for taking millions of dollars from the pharmaceutical industry for her presidential run.
As of late December, Clinton had raised about $1.1 million from the pharmaceuticals or health products industries this cycle, according to data from Open Secrets.
