DNC head takes heat for tweet on timing of GOP debate
Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz is under fire for a tongue-in-cheek tweet about ABC’s Republican debate being held on Super Bowl weekend.
“Hmmm, wondering why @GOP trying to hide their #GOPdebate on the Saturday of #SuperBowl weekend no less?!” the congresswoman wrote Saturday, hours before the debate.

{mosads}Wasserman Schultz has previously faced criticism for the lack of Democratic debates during the 2016 election and the timing of those debates, including on holiday weekends and one on a Saturday night before big NFL football games.
She clarified shortly afterward that tweet was a tongue-in-cheek critique of the pushback the DNC faced for its debates.
“.@TheDemocrats debates set viewer records. Both parties’ broadcast network debates on wknds. Replies to SuperBowl #GOPdebate make my point,” she wrote.
