Clinton lands support of ministers in Flint
Hillary Clinton’s Democratic presidential campaign is touting the endorsements of several ministers in Flint, Mich., a city that has been hit hard by a drinking water crisis.
{mosads}The campaign said in a statement that Revs. Hubert Miller and Al Harris and Bishop Rogers L. Jones Sr. are backing her White House bid because she was the only candidate to travel to Flint to draw attention to the crisis.
”Secretary Clinton has certainly aided us in bringing added political attention to our plight in the City of Flint, causing other politicians to move legislation on this subject, and vowing to do everything within her power to assist Flint in recovering from this sinful social experiment we call the Flint Water Crisis,” Miller said in a statement
Harris, meanwhile, said Clinton’s voice was “more than that of a politician, it was the voice of a humanitarian.”
And Jones called her visit an “impressive, selfless” gesture.
Clinton earlier this month visited the city, where she said what happened was “immoral.”
“I want you to understand that this is for me a personal commitment. I will stand with you every step of the way. I will not for one minute forget about you or forget about your children,” she said at a community meeting in Flint.
“I will do everything I can to help you get back up, to get your strength and resilience flowing through this community again because what happened here should never have happened anywhere,” she added.
The Clinton campaign on Monday also released a video featuring residents affected by the crisis and her comments in the city.
