Ohio Gov. John Kasich has won the endorsement of a major newspaper in South Carolina three days before the state’s Republican presidential primary.

The State editorial board wrote in its endorsement published Wednesday that Palmetto State voters should “ignore the blather of candidates without real credentials to lead the country.”

{mosads}”Instead, voters should choose Ohio Gov. John Kasich and his actual record of improving federal and state governments,” the newspaper’s editors wrote.

The newspaper mentioned Kasich’s support for accepting expanded Medicaid funding under ObamaCare and praised his efforts in Congress to push for a balanced federal budget.

The Post and Courier, another major South Carolina newspaper, has yet to announce an endorsement in the GOP race. News emerged Wednesday that South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley planned to endorse Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).

Kasich has won several newspaper endorsements over his GOP rivals, including from The New York Times and The Dallas Morning News.

Kasich, who reportedly will not be in South Carolina on primary night, took sixth place in the state in a Bloomberg poll released Wednesday.
