Donald Trump on Thursday denounced former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard David Duke, whose support has dogged the Republican presidential front-runner for a week.
{mosads}”David Duke is a bad person who I disavowed on numerous occasions over the years,” Trump said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
Trump suggested the story was old, mentioning he had disavowed Duke in multiple media appearances previously, stating, “Do you want me to do it for a 12th time?”
Duke encouraged listeners of his radio show last week to support Trump, leading to accusations that Trump was the candidate supported by white supremacists.
Trump brushed off the support in a press conference late last week, but over the weekend dodged questions on whether he would disavow Duke and the KKK.
The apparent waffling from Trump brought condemnation from party figures including Mitt Romney and Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.).
