Trump mentions Rubio, Kasich, Walker in VP discussion

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump could foresee giving Sen. Marco Rubio a position in his administration and also mentioned the Florida senator, along with Scott Walker and John Kasich when asked about his potential running mate.

“There are people I have in mind in terms of vice president. I just haven’t told anybody names,” Trump told USA Today columnist Kirsten Powers for a story published Monday afternoon.

{mosads}”I do like Marco. I do like Kasich. … I like Walker actually in a lot of ways. I hit him very hard … but I’ve always liked him. There are people I like, but I don’t think they like me because I have hit them hard,” Trump said.

Trump has feuded with all three men — each of whom has, to varying degrees, brushed off talk of supporting the controversial businessman if he secured the GOP nomination.

Rubio ended his White House bid in mid-March after losing the Florida primary to Trump.

“He made a mistake,” Trump told USA Today regarding Rubio’s jabs at the businessman. “He became Don Rickles for about four days, and then I became worse than Don Rickles.”

Walker, who dropped out of the Republican race last year, endorsed Ted Cruz last month and said Monday he couldn’t “fathom” being Trump’s running mate, calling it nearly “breathtaking,” according to The Associated Press.

Kasich is running a distant third in the GOP race and is aiming for a contested convention for a shot at the nomination. The Ohio governor reiterated Monda night there’s “zero” chance he would be Trump’s vice president.

When pressed at a CNN town hall by moderator Anderson Cooper, who noted that some have suggested he’s “auditioning” to be the front-runner’s running mate, Kasich dismissed the notion.

“I’m not going to be anyone’s vice president,” Kasich said. “I’d be the worst vice president the country ever saw. You know why? Because I’m not like a vice president, I’m a president.

“I’m not even thinking that way because I believe at the end of the day, that our crowds are growing,” he added. “For the first time, people are starting to hear the message I have, and we’re growing. So I’m optimistic going forward.”
