Outside group: Trump’s ‘woman card’ attack is a ‘losing hand’
A liberal super-PAC says Donald Trump is playing a “losing hand” by accusing Hillary Clinton of relying on the “woman card.”
The group, American Bridge, runs through a litany of the businessman’s controversial remarks on women in a new ad, asking supporters to “bet against Trump” in a fundraising pitch.
{mosads}The video starts with Trump’s statement Tuesday that “if Hillary Clinton were a man, I don’t think she’d get 5 percent of the vote.”
American Bridge says similar fundraising pitches focused on the controversial businessman have yielded favorable results.
The super-PAC said a pitch Thursday focused on Trump’s foreign policy remarks reached 130,000 people over email and social media, its best performing pitch since the 2012 election cycle.
Democratic groups have turned fire on Trump this week after he repeatedly accused Clinton of playing the “woman’s card” and insisted she had no other arguments.
Clinton’s campaign Friday issued a fundraising email embracing Clinton’s response to Trump that “if support for women’s health care and paid family leave and equal pay is playing the woman card, then deal me in.”
The email included a pink stylized “woman card” expressing support for Clinton, who has said that Trump’s comments “aren’t a joke.”
Meanwhile, House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Friday argued that Trump was playing “the joker’s card” while Clinton was playing the “experience card.”
