GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump hit the U.S.’s trade deficit with China hard at a campaign event in Indiana on Sunday.
“We can’t continue to allow China to rape our country, and that’s what they’re doing,” Trump said.
{mosads}Trump has repeatedly accused China of currency manipulation to make its exports more competitive in the global market, but this is the first time he’s used the word “rape” to describe it.
“We’re going to turn it around, and we have the cards, don’t forget it,” Trump said. “We have a lot of power with China.”
Trump’s comments come as he gained the endorsement of boxer Mike Tyson, who was convicted of rape in Indiana.
