Priorities USA, the main super-PAC backing Hillary Clinton’s Democratic presidential campaign, will start airing two ads on Wednesday as it ramps up its general election campaign against presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump.
The first ad, titled “Speak,” features women in T-shirts with Trump’s face emblazoned on them mouthing his controversial remarks regarding women. The 30-second spot ends by asking: “Does Donald Trump really speak for you?”
{mosads}The second ad, titled “Respect,” compiles clips of Trump talking about his stances on issues, including cutting funding for Planned Parenthood and creating some form of punishment for women who receive illegal abortions. Trump has since backtracked on that comment, saying that only abortion providers would be punished.
“Donald Trump is a con-man: a divisive, dangerous know-nothing who should never be president of the United States. His offensive, ignorant views of millions of Americans, especially women, would only further divide our country. His temperament and lack of judgment would put American lives at risk,” Priorities USA chief strategist Guy Cecil said.
“This is only the beginning of an aggressive and sustained advertising campaign against Donald Trump, and the more voters learn about him, the less likely they’re going to be comfortable with the idea that he could be president,” Cecil added.
CNN reported earlier Monday that Priorities USA will spend $6 million on ads against Trump between May 18 and June 8 and will air ads in the swing states of Ohio, Florida, Virginia and Nevada.
The group previously announced plans to spend $130 million in ads following the California and New Jersey primaries on June 8, but it moved up the date it would start airing ads to pivot earlier to the general election.
Clinton is still campaigning against rival Bernie Sanders for the Democratic nomination despite her large delegate lead. The Vermont senator has vowed to keep campaigning until the convention in July, but the former secretary of State has already pivoted to the fall and started training her fire on Trump.
