Donald Trump says he considers Oakland, Calif., and Ferguson, Mo., as among the most dangerous places in the world.
{mosads}When asked in an extensive New York Times Magazine interview published Wednesday about the most dangerous place he has visited, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee initially responded jokingly with “Brooklyn.”
“No, there are places in America that are among the most dangerous in the world. You go to places like Oakland. Or Ferguson. The crime numbers are worse. Seriously,” Trump said.
Ferguson was the site of civil unrest in 2014 after a local police officer fatally shot 18-year-old Michael Brown.
Oakland was the site of a similar incident in 2009, when Oscar Grant was fatally shot by a transit police officer. The incident was dramatized in the film “Fruitvale Station.”
Trump also said he’s never been to Iraq.
“Never!” he said, with the Times report adding he sounded “horrified by the thought.”
