Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol fired back at presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump after Trump called the prominent conservative voice a “loser” and a “dummy.”
“I gather Donald Trump said I’m a loser,” Kristol tweeted on Tuesday.
“I’ve won some and I’ve lost some, but one thing I’ve always tried not to be is a roaring jackass.”
{mosads}Kristol, one of Trump’s most vocal detractors, has been pushing for an independent candidate to challenge the presumptive GOP nominee. On Sunday, he tweeted about the progress.
“Just a heads up over this holiday weekend: There will be an independent candidate—an impressive one, with a strong team and a real chance,” Kristol tweeted on Sunday.
Trump shot back at Kristol, saying he had been “wrong” for years and calling him an “embarrassed loser.” He called on the Republican Party to be “smart & strong if it wants to win November.”
“Can’t allow lightweights to set up a spoiler Indie candidate,” Trump tweeted.
“If dummy Bill Kristol actually does get a spoiler to run as an Independent, say good bye to the Supreme Court,” the billionaire said in a subsequent tweet.
