Former Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) says he hasn’t seen enough “self-discipline” and “control over his ego” from presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.
{mosads}During a Thursday interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” the former senator was asked whether he had any hope that Trump would become a good leader for the Republican Party.
“Well sure, I have hope. I think everybody can change,” Coburn responded.
“The question is, does he have the self-discipline and some control over his ego to be able to say ‘I’m wrong’ every now and then? I haven’t seen that, but that’s not a whole lot different than a whole lot of Washington.”
Coburn, who retired in 2015 after 10 years in the Senate, ruled out an independent presidential bid last month.
