Clinton interrupted by hecklers in post-Orlando speech

Hillary Clinton was interrupted by hecklers calling her a hypocrite as she began a speech Monday that was cast as a response to the Orlando, Fla., nightclub shooting.

Clinton, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, was barely into her remarks when protesters began chanting, “H is for hypocrisy,” according to reporters from major outlets.

{mosads}Clinton paused and grinned as her supporters drowned out the protesters by chanting, “We love Hillary!”

After the protesters quieted down, the former secretary of State said Americans had woken on Sunday to a nightmare that had become “mind-numbingly familiar.”

“A madman filled fill hate, with guns in his hands, and just a horrible sense of vengeance and vindictiveness in his heart,” Clinton said.

Clinton said the gunman was consumed by rage at LGBT Americans, “and by extension the openness and diversity that defines our way of life.”

She mentioned the killer, Omar Mateen, and his pledge of allegiance to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, but added that much is not known about his background and motivations.

“There’s a lot we still don’t know, including what other mix of motives drove him to kill,” she said.
