Libertarian ticket to appear at CNN town hall

CNN will host a primetime town hall with the Libertarian nominees for president and vice president, the network announced Wednesday.

{mosads}Chris Cuomo will moderate a town hall with Gary Johnson and Bill Weld next Wednesday at 9 p.m. in New York City.

The pair recently became the Libertarian Party’s presidential ticket, and many believe they are poised for the best showing from a third-party ticket in decades, thanks to record-low favorability numbers for Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

The CNN event will help Johnson and Weld get exposure as they seek to get enough support to be included in presidential debates in the fall. A third-party candidate needs 15 percent support in polls to make the stage.

A Fox News poll released last week showed Johnson with 12 percent support.

The CNN town hall will be the first major primetime appearence for the duo.
