Clinton super-PAC raises $12.1M in May

The main super-PAC backing Hillary Clinton’s White House run hauled in $12.1 million in fundraising last month.

Priorities USA said in a statement Monday that it has roughly $52 million on hand after its results in May. The group added that it has raised approximately $133 million this election cycle, including about $88 million already raised and another $45 million in other commitments.

{mosads}“In the last few weeks, [presumptive GOP presidential nominee] Donald Trump accused President Obama of working with [the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria], took a victory lap following a national tragedy, and mimed shooting someone at one of his events,” chief strategist Guy Cecil said.

“Priorities USA is not going to let this man anywhere near the White House because he is far too dangerous and divisive to ever be president of the United States. We will not let up in our efforts to defeat him this November, and are grateful for our continued fundraising success.”

Reports emerged earlier this month that the group has reserved $9 million in ad buys in North Carolina, bringing its total reservations to $145 million for the general election. North Carolina is the eighth swing state targeted by the organization after previous buys in Ohio, Florida, Virginia, Colorado, Nevada, New Hampshire and Iowa.

Priorities USA released an ad earlier this month reviving criticism of Trump for allegedly taunting a disabled reporter while making spastic body motions. The group also unveiled another clip last week criticizing Trump’s “dangerous” national security and foreign policy positions.

A poll released Monday shows Clinton, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, leading Trump by 7 points nationwide.
