Carson: DNC email leak proves system is corrupt
Ben Carson, a former GOP presidential candidate who now supports Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, said leaked emails that show Democratic Party leaders planned to undermine Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I-Vt.) campaign is proof that the system is corrupt.
{mosads}”I knew that there was corruption, but the level of corruption throughout the political system is overwhelming,” Carson said Sunday on Fox News.
“And I’m talking about the established Democrats and the established Republicans, who are much more interested in holding on to power and their positions than they are about their party or about their country.
“This is really very sad, and I hope that more people will wake up and see what’s happening,” Carson said.
Emails released by WikiLeaks on Friday showed top officials at the Democratic National Committee discussing ways to undermine Sanders’s presidential campaign.
On Sunday, Sanders called on Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz to resign. He said the emails proved what he’s been saying all along: that the party favored presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton from the start.
Meanwhile, Clinton’s campaign manager on Sunday questioned whether Russia was behind the leaked emails.
“It’s troubling that some experts are telling us this was done by the Russians for the purpose of helping [GOP presidential nominee] Donald Trump,” Robby Mook said on ABC’s “This Week.”
