Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, John Podesta, says the Democratic Party needs to move beyond its divisions and rally around its presumptive presidential nominee.

{mosads}In an interview with CBS’s “This Morning” on Tuesday, Podesta applauded the Democratic National Convention speeches given by first lady Michelle Obama and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Monday night.

“So, I think we began that process last night. I think that as Sarah Silverman said … we’ve got to get over it.”

Podesta added that the party took the opportunity to honor Sanders’s campaign on Monday night, “but we need to move on and consolidate around Hillary.”

“I’ve worked for insurgent candidates. I know what that feels like, and … right now, I think they’re emotional about it, they thought they fought the good cause, but Hillary Clinton won the nomination fair and square, and tonight is an historic night because we will nominate the first woman to lead a major-party ticket,” Podesta said.

Sanders supporters booed and chanted during several speeches Monday night, protesting what they believe has been consistent and unfair treatment toward the Vermont senator by the Democratic National Committee.

During her remarks with Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.), comedian Sarah Silverman told the rogue Sanders delegates, “You’re being ridiculous.”
