Poll: Clinton leads Trump by 8 points post-convention

Hillary Clinton leads rival Donald Trump by 8 points following the Democratic National Convention, according to the latest NBC News/SurveyMonkey poll
 
Clinton has 50 percent support to Trump’s 42 percent in the poll released early Tuesday. Clinton’s support has grown while Trump’s has decreased since last month’s poll, which had her ahead by 1 point, 46 to 45 percent.
 
{mosads}Clinton’s favorability among Democrats and Democratic-leaning voters also rose 6 points, to 80 percent, after the Democratic convention, while her unfavorables fell 5 points, to 19 percent.
 
It’s the latest post-convention poll finding Clinton ahead. A CNN/ORC poll released late Monday found Clinton leading Trump by 9 points, 52 to 43 percent, while a CBS poll also released Monday found her up 6 points, 47 to 41 percent.
 
The new NBC/SurveyMonkey poll also found Clinton retaking the lead from Trump in a four-way presidential matchup with third-party candidates. Clinton leads Trump by 4 points, 42 to 38 percent, in that scenario. Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson is at 9 percent and Green Party candidate Jill Stein is at 4 points. 
 
Trump was leading Clinton by 2 points in a four-way matchup last week.  
 
The new survey of 12,742 adults was conducted July 25–31 online with a margin of error of 1.2 percentage points.
