Bloomberg poll: Clinton leads Trump by 6 points

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton leads Republican rival Donald Trump by 6 points in a head-to-head national matchup, according to a new poll.

{mosads}Clinton leads Trump — 50 to 44 percent — in a Bloomberg Politics poll released Wednesday morning that shows the former secretary of State maintaining her post-convention bounce.

Clinton’s lead over Trump drops to 4 points — 44 to 40 percent — when Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson and Green Party nominee Jill Stein are factored into the race. Johnson picks up 9 percent in that scenario, while Stein gets four percent.

The poll found that 94 percent of Democrats support Clinton, including 93 percent of the Democrats who backed Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I-Vt.) White House bid. Trump, meanwhile, is supported by 87 percent of Republicans.

Clinton sees support from majorities of non-whites, those in the Northeast, voters under the age of 35, unmarried voters, college-educated voters and women.

Trump has majority support from white men without college degrees, Evangelicals and non-college educated voters.

The Bloomberg poll of 749 likely voters, conducted Aug. 5–8, has a margin of error of 3.6 percentage points.

Clinton leads Trump by 8 percent in the RealClearPolitics average of polls, 47.8 percent to 39.9 percent.
