Donald Trump is using the same wording he once mocked Jeb Bush for using.
Trump tweeted a list of problems in the black community before saying, “I will fix it, promise.”
In November, Trump tore into his then-primary rival for using the slogan “Jeb can fix it,” calling it a “stupid message.”
{mosads}It was part of Trump’s regular attacks on Bush as he painted him as weak and ineffectual throughout the GOP presidential primaries.
In recent days, Trump has been making concerted efforts to reach out to minority voters, even drawing criticism for softening his language on immigration. He backed off this week on insisting that everyone in the country illegally would be deported, saying instead he would “work with them.”
During the primaries, Trump repeatedly slammed his GOP opponents for not being sufficiently tough on illegal immigration.
Trump has also focused on the black community.
“If African-Americans give Donald Trump a chance by giving me their vote, the result for them will be amazing,” he said in a speech last week in Charlotte, N.C.
“What do you have to lose by trying something new? I will fix it. This means so much to me, and I will work as hard as I can to bring new opportunity to places in our country which have not known opportunity in a very long time.”
