Clinton’s latest fundraiser cost $200K a person: report
Tickets for Hillary Clinton’s fundraiser late Wednesday in northern California cost $200,000 per person, according to a new report.
The event, attended by about 20 people, netted at least $4 million for the Democratic presidential nominee, The Washington Post said Thursday.
{mosads}The Post said the event in Woodside, Calif., was hosted by Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.
Clinton and her running mate, Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), have raked in at least $32 million this month during similar stops nationwide, the newspaper continued.
The money goes toward the Hillary Victory Fund, it added, which distributes cash to Clinton’s campaign, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and state parties.
The Post said that Apple’s current CEO, Tim Cook, was listed as a host for a separate fundraiser Wednesday night in Los Altos Hills, Calif.
Clinton and Kaine have conducted several fundraisers in August with $50,000 minimum donations, the newspaper said, and one in Omaha, Neb., starting at $100,000.
Pop star Justin Timberlake on Tuesday filled in for another Clinton fundraiser after his friend, actor Leonardo DiCaprio, had to bow out. DiCaprio was stuck in New York, leaving Timberlake and his wife, actress Jessica Biel, hosting Clinton at their Los Angeles home instead.
Individual tickets for that “Conversations with Hillary” fundraiser were reportedly set at $33,400, with $2,700 going to Clinton’s campaign and the rest to the DNC and state and local parties.
Actress Jennifer Aniston, actor Toby Maguire and television producer and writer Shonda Rhimes were some of the other celebrities in attendance.
Reports emerged last Sunday that Clinton’s campaign was more than halfway to its goal of raising $1 billion for the 2016 presidential race.
