Clinton: Trump and David Duke share ‘many of the same values’

Hillary Clinton on Thursday accused GOP presidential rival Donald Trump of sharing “many of the same values” with former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke.

Clinton’s remark came in a tweet that included a quote from the former KKK grand wizard claiming early this year that not voting for Trump was “treason to your heritage.”

{mosads}The accusation came on the heels of a video released by the Clinton campaign Thursday showing KKK supporters speaking warmly of Trump. A black Trump surrogate called on Clinton to disavow the video, which he criticized.

Clinton also slammed Trump during a speech in Reno, Nev., on race issues, describing Trump as “someone who retweets white supremacists online.” Trump has repeatedly shared tweets praising himself from apparent white supremacist accounts, which Clinton cited.

She also went after a Trump tweet from earlier this summer when his campaign shared an image of a six-pointed star over a bed of cash, labeling Clinton “corrupt.” The image was replaced, but stirred accusations of anti-Semitism.

Trump brushed off the support of Duke in February, but caught flak for not more forcefully disavowing the former KKK leader.

Trump and Clinton are battling over race amid polls showing Clinton with a lead nationally and in battleground states.
