Democratic group files complaint against Fla. AG over Trump donation

A Democratic activist group has filed a Department of Justice (DOJ) complaint against Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi (R) over a $25,000 contribution that Donald Trump gave to a group supporting her reelection in 2013.

{mosads}The Democratic Coalition Against Trump, which is affiliated with the Keep America Great Again PAC, said that the contribution violated the Voting Rights Act.

“We believe that Pam Bondi, Florida Attorney General, and Donald Trump have violated federal voting laws including but not limited to bribery across state lines by way of a $25,000 campaign contribution from Trump to Bondi during her 2013 election by way of the Trump Foundation in return for AG Bondi dropping an investigation into Trump University,” the complaint reads.

The Associated Press reported in June that the contribution came from Trump, now the Republican presidential nominee, shortly after the Bondi’s office announced that it was considering pursuing a fraud investigation into Trump University. The office later declined to join a lawsuit against the now-defunct school.

This year, Trump paid a $2,500 fine to the IRS for making an illegal political donation from a charity, according to The Washington Post.
