An interview with Donald Trump Jr. was shut down when a reporter from a Pittsburgh television station asked a question about his father, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, spending his foundation’s money to purchase a portrait of himself.
{mosads}“You’re a director of the Trump Foundation charity, did you sign off on charity money for a portrait?” a WTAE local news reporter asked, according to Buzzfeed News.
“No, I don’t know anything about that,” Trump Jr. responded.
When the reporter began to ask a follow-up question, an aide reportedly cut in to stop the interview.
“Alright, that’s it,” the off-camera voice said. “We have to move on to the next one.”
“I’m not involved in it,” Trump Jr. said.
The Washington Post earlier this month reported that Donald Trump spent $20,000 of money belonging to the Donald J. Trump Foundation in 2007 to buy a six-foot-tall portrait of himself.
He made the purchase during a fundraiser auction at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida.
The Post’s investigation showed Trump’s foundation appeared to have broken IRS rules several times.
