A top aide to Hillary Clinton needled Donald Trump on Tuesday as his running mate Mike Pence was slated to appear in the vice presidential debate.
Clinton campaign chair John Podesta remarked that while the public typically tunes into vice presidential debates to see if the VP candidates are fit to serve as president, this year voters are left wondering if the top of the GOP ticket is qualified.
{mosads}”The question really for the Trump campaign is: Is the presidential nominee fit to serve? Does he have the temperament to serve?” Podesta asked reporters.
Podesta argued such questions over Trump’s qualifications for the presidency will represent “a very high bar” for Pence on Tuesday night.
Clinton’s campaign is pushing the Indiana governor to play defense in Tuesday’s debate against Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) at Longwood University in Farmville, Va.
